Bidding Goodbye to RIPeducation

Here is a snippet from the first post of RIPeducation - Why this Blog ?
Self Limiting Goal : “If within 24 months of existence of this blog, it is not able to translate beyond words and discussions into something concrete, It must be closed down without any arguments or excuses.”

This was posted on Feb 28 2011. It'll be soon 2 years and it is time I revisit the Goal I set on myself and on this blog.

So, has this blog translated into something beyond words and discussions ? Has it come into something concrete ? Well the answer will depend on how you look at it.

There have been some readers who have found it meaningful and helpful in someway. I've personally gone beyond words and implemented many of the ideas discussed in the blog in the schools that I have interacted with or worked with. In that way, there has been certain concreteness beyond words to the blog.

But I've failed to generate a revolution with it which was my original intention. I've failed to take these ideas beyond a dozen of readers.

Personally, I am very happy. I feel it was meaningful. While I've not received many comments or compliments for this work, whatever I have received have been very genuine and satisfying.

But overall, the blog hasn't generated much interest and friction in educational domain. Some might argue, 2 years is a very short time. RIPeducation has failed to go beyond a dozen of readers (owing to my reluntance to marketing it, trust in word of mouth and google's ruthlessnes inspite of my SEO attempts which made it hard to find).  Indeed it is but a promise is a promise and I'll stick to my goal set in the beginning.

Thus, this blog will be closed. The existing content will be moved to ripeducation.wordpress.com.

I don't plan to continue writing on the blog but if I feel like sharing something, I'll share it on more informal blogging platform of Wordpress. It'll be more of sharing without any high goals or expectation.

At end I must thank all the readers of the blog for keeping my spirits high and continuing to share your feedbacks. Thank you very much !

Special thanks to wordpress and the entire community of open source programmers and developers. I've used pictures/plugins/softwares of many people whom I might never know or see. But I do thank and wish them the best wherever they are.

May education as we know it R.I.P.  and may we find strength to create a new better world.
